Governor Bii Welcomes Cabinet Secretary Hon. Lee Kinyanjui for Site Visit of Key Economic Projects

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii had the distinct honor of welcoming the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry, Hon. Lee Kinyanjui, to the county headquarters today. The visit marks a significant milestone as the government continues to prioritize infrastructure development and industrialization in the region.

The purpose of the visit was to inspect the ongoing construction of two major projects that promise to enhance Uasin Gishu's economic landscape: the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Kapseret Constituency and the County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) in Moiben. Both projects are set to play a pivotal role in fostering local and international trade, boosting industrial activities, and creating employment opportunities for the residents of Uasin Gishu County and beyond.

Governor Jonathan Bii expressed his enthusiasm for the visit, noting that these projects are not only essential to the region’s economic growth but also align with the broader national vision of creating an enabling environment for investments, innovation, and job creation.

“I am delighted to welcome Hon. Lee Kinyanjui to Uasin Gishu County. His visit underscores the government’s commitment to supporting industrialization in the region. The ongoing development of the Export Processing Zone in Kapseret and the County Aggregation and Industrial Park in Moiben is a clear demonstration of how we are working towards creating sustainable economic opportunities for our people,” said Governor Bii.

The Cabinet Secretary commended the progress made on both sites and emphasized the importance of such projects in fostering regional and national economic growth. He reiterated the government’s dedication to improving the business climate, facilitating local entrepreneurs, and attracting more foreign direct investments (FDIs) into the country.

Hon. Kinyanjui also noted the potential for Uasin Gishu County to become a key industrial hub in Kenya, with these two projects serving as critical pillars in driving trade, manufacturing, and export activities. He promised continued government support to ensure the successful completion of the projects and their seamless integration into the broader economic framework.

The EPZ in Kapseret is set to focus on manufacturing, offering tax incentives and other advantages for exporters, while the CAIP in Moiben aims to promote agro-processing and the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region.

Governor Bii concluded the visit with a reaffirmation of his administration’s commitment to ensuring that Uasin Gishu becomes a beacon of industrial growth, innovation, and trade in Kenya. He reiterated that such projects would be critical to achieving the county’s long-term development objectives, including creating jobs for the youth and enhancing the livelihoods of the residents.

The visit marks a key moment in Uasin Gishu’s journey toward becoming a major economic hub in the country, aligning with Kenya's Vision 2030 goals of industrializing the nation and promoting inclusive growth for all Kenyans.
