In a bid to enhance governance and optimize service delivery, Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang has announced a major reshuffling of his Cabinet. The changes, in line with the County Government Act of 2012, are designed to align departmental expertise with the county’s development needs, ensuring a more efficient administration.
Governor Sang revealed that the key reshuffle includes several strategic appointments aimed at strengthening various sectors of the county’s operations. Among the most notable changes, Hon. Hillary Kiptanui Serem, previously heading the Department of Finance, has been appointed to lead the Department of Lands, Environment, and Climate Change. His extensive background in finance will be invaluable in steering the department’s efforts in land management, environmental conservation, and climate change adaptation.
CPA Alfred Kiprotich Lagat, who had overseen the Department of Lands, Environment, and Climate Change, will return to the Department of Finance and Economic Planning. His wealth of experience in fiscal management will play a crucial role in guiding the county’s budget planning and economic development initiatives.
In another significant move, Keter Isaiah has been appointed to head the Department of Trade, Tourism, and Enterprise Development. His mandate will be to drive growth in local trade, tourism, and small enterprises, boosting the county’s economic potential and providing more opportunities for its residents.
Dr. Philemon Bureti, a seasoned public administrator, will now take charge of the Department of Administration, Public Service, and ICT. His primary focus will be to enhance the efficiency of public services and implement innovative technological solutions for the county's administrative systems.
Governor Sang emphasized that these changes were made to strengthen governance and accelerate development in Nandi County. The reshuffled Cabinet team, now in place, is expected to hit the ground running, with a shared vision to drive the county’s progress and ensure that the needs of the public are effectively addressed.
The public and stakeholders have widely supported the reshuffle, recognizing its potential to bring about positive change and improved service delivery. With these new appointments, Governor Sang is confident that Nandi County is poised for even greater achievements in the coming months.
