Hon. Abdi Shurie, Member of Parliament for Balambala, has successfully retained his position as the Chairperson of the Public Debt and Privatization Committee in the National Assembly. Shurie, who has been serving in this role since the start of the 13th Parliament, was elected unopposed in a seamless vote.
Joining him as Vice-Chairperson is Hon. Irene Mrembo, MP for Bahati, who was also elected unopposed. Both leaders are set to continue their crucial work overseeing public debt management and privatization processes in the country.
In his remarks following the election, Hon. Shurie expressed his gratitude for the continued support from his colleagues, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring the National Assembly maintains robust oversight over public debt. He reiterated the Committee's role in scrutinizing the efficiency of borrowed funds and ensuring that the resources are effectively channeled toward economic development in Kenya.
