This afternoon, Mwala Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Engineer Vincent Musyoka Musau Kawaya, was elected to serve as the Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry, and Mining. In a statement following his election, the new Chairperson expressed deep humility and gratitude for the opportunity to lead the committee.
“I am deeply humbled and honoured to accept this new responsibility,” Hon. Kawaya said. “I pledge to give it my best to ensure the success of this docket, which plays a pivotal role in the development of our nation, particularly in areas crucial to the environment, forestry, and mining sectors.”
Hon. Kawaya, a well-respected leader and engineer, acknowledged the trust placed in him by his colleagues and reiterated his commitment to driving forward key policies that would foster sustainable development and responsible resource management in Kenya.
“I am committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure that we protect our environment, manage our forestry resources wisely, and harness the potential of our mining sector for the benefit of all Kenyans,” he added.
The new Chairperson also took the opportunity to express his profound gratitude to President William Ruto, the Party Leader, for his continuous support and trust in his leadership.
“To my Party Leader, His Excellency President William Ruto, I’m forever grateful for the confidence you have shown in me. I remain committed to supporting the government’s agenda and ensuring that our nation progresses on all fronts, particularly in these crucial sectors,” Hon. Kawaya concluded.
His election as Chairperson is expected to bring a fresh perspective and energetic leadership to the committee, which is tasked with overseeing critical issues related to environmental conservation, sustainable forestry practices, and the mining sector’s development and regulation.
