Hon. Daniel Nanok and Hon. John Kiragu have been re-elected unopposed as Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson, respectively, of the Committee on Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library. This follows the provisions of Standing Order 179 (12), which stipulates that when only one candidate is nominated for election to either position, the Clerk shall declare them elected without the need for a vote.
The two lawmakers, who previously held these leadership positions, will continue to lead the 21-member Committee. Hon. Nanok expressed his appreciation for the continued support from his fellow Committee members, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and innovation within the group. "A Committee is as good as its Members. I hope that all our Members will bring new energy and ideas to boost the work of this Committee," he said.
Hon. Kiragu, who was also re-elected unopposed as Vice-Chairperson, conveyed his gratitude to the Committee members for their trust in his leadership. He acknowledged the support and confidence of his colleagues and pledged to work together to further enhance the Committee's impact.
The reconstitution of the Committee on Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library also saw the addition of new members. Among the fresh faces are Hon. Samuel Gachobe, Hon. Timothy Toroitich, Hon. Naomi Waqo, Hon. George Koimburi, Hon. Raphael Wanjala, Hon. Peter Salasya, Hon. Edward Muriu Wakili, and Hon. Shakeel Shabbir. These new members will bring fresh perspectives to the Committee’s work.
As the Committee moves forward, the leadership of Hon. Nanok and Hon. Kiragu will play a crucial role in guiding the group's efforts to enhance parliamentary broadcasting and library services, ensuring a well-informed and transparent legislative process.
