Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has officially declared Monday, 31st March 2025, a public holiday to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. The announcement was made through a gazette notice issued on Friday.

In the notice, Murkomen stated, "It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Monday, the 31st March, 2025, shall be a public holiday to mark Eid-ul-Fitr."

Eid-ul-Fitr, also known as the "Festival of Breaking the Fast," is a significant holiday in the Islamic calendar, marking the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection for Muslims around the world. The holiday is a time for family gatherings, feasting, and giving thanks for the strength to complete the month-long fast.

The declaration of a public holiday will allow Muslims across the country to come together with family and friends to celebrate this important occasion.
