A 23-year-old Kenya Defence Force Officer fought back tears in an Eldoret Court as he testified against his own father accused of unthinkable, murdering his mother.
The deceased, Rael Cherop Biwott 44 was a Senior Accountant Assistant at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital billing section in Eldoret Uasin Gishu County
The youthful military officer, Sammy Ndirangu recounted to the packed court how his father, Francis Mwangi Ndirangu who is a businessman, used to assault his mother while accusing her of infidelity.
Ndirangu who was overcome by pain and grieve, told the Presiding Judge Emily Ominde that his father whom her described as violent and abusive would beat his mother Infront of him as he accused her of being
unfaithful in their marriage.
"I was very close to my late mother and we used to chat via WhatsApp on a daily basis after duty at my work station," Ndirangu recalled.
He said that it was out of the gender based violence his father was subjecting his slain mother that he developed frost and bad relationship with him at their Shauri estate home located on the
outskirts of Eldoret City.
"My father used to insult and beat mum violently while accusing her of infidelity in front of me at our house in Shauri estate. This made me develop hatred and a bad relationship with him," he told the court.
Ndirangu was in pain as he laid bare the sour relationship between his father and slain mother terming the environment at their house as toxic and unbearable over the alleged issue of infidelity.
The KDF officer was testifying against his father in a case where he has denied killing his slain wife on the night of June 22 and 23 at Shauri estate in Eldoret City, Uasin Gishu County.
The deceased, a mother of four was reported missing on June 23, 2024, and her dismembered body parts were subsequently discovered at multiple locations across Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties on June 24
and June 27, 2024.
According to the court documents, the late Biwott was last seen leaving her workplace on June 22, 2024, around 7 p.m while accompanied by her estranged husband, Francis Mwangi Ndirangu.
However, despite the accused person's statement where he claimed that they took a matatu home, CCTV footage revealed that they had departed with his slain wife in a Toyota Succeed, a vehicle hired by Ndirangu.
Tragically, Cherop never made it home on the fateful day.
In a sad turn of event, on June 24, around noon, some of Biwott;s dismembered body parts were found stashed in a gunny bag beside a road in Kapsilegaa village, Nandi County.
Later that day, more parts of her body, including her head and upper limbs, were discovered beside a road in Lamaiywet village, Uasin Gishu County.
Despite these gruesome discoveries, it was not until 6:40 p.m. that Ndirangu reported his wife missing at Eldoret Central Police Station.
An autopsy that was conducted on the body of the deceased at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in the presence of family members and legal representatives revealed that Ms Biwott suffered severe neck
injuries and blunt force trauma to the head.
The accused has been detained at the Eldoret GK remand prison after he was denied bond on security grounds.
The prosecution has lined up 21 witnesses against the accused person among them his children.
Four state witnesses among them two sons of the accused person and sister in law Elizabeth Jeptoo Biwott have already given their evidence in chief against him in court.
