Mandera South MP Condemns Deadly Terror Attack in Ires Suki

By John Kariuki

Mandera South MP Abdul Haro Kore has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that took place in Ires Suki on Monday morning, leading to the tragic death of National Police Reservist (NPR) officer Abdikheir Ibraye Abdi Tortore. The attack comes just a week after three individuals were abducted in the same area by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.

In a statement, the MP expressed his deepest sympathies to the family of the slain officer and the residents of Ires Suki, vowing that such heinous acts of violence will not weaken the resolve of the people of Mandera South. He reaffirmed his commitment to rejecting all forms of terrorism that threaten the region’s security and stability.

“We will not be cowed by these acts of terrorism. Our unity remains our strongest weapon in fighting this menace, which continues to undermine our peace and disrupt our efforts to improve the lives of our people,” said MP Kore.

He assured his constituents that every effort is being made to address the situation and urged them to remain calm. Security agencies have been mobilized to counter the growing threats posed by militant groups in the region.

The killing of Abdikheir Ibraye Abdi Tortore and the recent abductions have heightened concerns over security in Mandera South, an area that has been on the frontline of Kenya’s battle against terrorism. The MP vowed to work closely with security agencies to enhance vigilance and protect residents from further attacks.

“We will always remember the victims of these attacks and stand in solidarity with their families,” he added.

The government continues to intensify counterterrorism efforts in Mandera County, a region that remains vulnerable to cross-border incursions by Al-Shabaab militants.
