Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK), had the pleasure of hosting renowned comedian Professor Hamo this morning at the MCSK offices. Hamo, who is best known for his role on the popular Churchill Show, paid a courtesy visit to the organization to officially register as a member and explore collaboration opportunities to promote Kenyan music on the global stage.
The meeting centered around potential collaborations to export Kenyan music abroad, with a particular focus on the upcoming Kenya Cinema Week 2025 in London. Professor Hamo, who is known for his influence in the entertainment industry, discussed his plans to feature Kenyan music alongside comedy and film during the event later this year.
Speaking on the partnership, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua expressed enthusiasm about the potential to elevate Kenyan culture globally. “It’s an honor to host Professor Hamo, and we are excited about the prospects of working together to promote Kenyan music internationally. Our support for Kenya Cinema Week 2025 in London is part of MCSK’s broader mission to provide exposure for our members and showcase Kenya’s vibrant music scene to a wider audience,” he said.
The upcoming music, comedy, and film bonanza in Central London promises to be a significant cultural event, with MCSK pledging to play a crucial role in supporting the event. The partnership aims to not only provide Kenyan artists with greater exposure but also highlight the rich cultural heritage of Kenya, showcasing its unique musical talent to global audiences.
Dr. Mutua emphasized that the collaboration is also in line with MCSK's ongoing efforts to redefine and elevate the role of music in film, ensuring that artists’ copyrights are protected and that they benefit from the monetization of their work. “Through such collaborations, we hope to ensure that Kenyan artists receive the recognition and financial reward they deserve for their contributions to the music and entertainment industries,” he added.
As the event approaches, MCSK is committed to supporting its members and contributing to the global recognition of Kenyan music and culture. The partnership with Professor Hamo marks another important step in expanding the reach of Kenya's creative industries beyond its borders.
