Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) has issued a statement to clarify recent reports circulating on social media regarding the alleged assault of a child by a relative. The hospital emphasized that the child in question was not brought to MTRH for treatment, contrary to claims circulating online.
In a statement released earlier today, MTRH’s management addressed the growing concern following news reports that suggested the child, who was reportedly assaulted, had sought medical care at the hospital.
“We wish to clarify that the child allegedly assaulted by a relative was not brought to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment. Contrary to the information circulating on various social media platforms, MTRH has no record of the child being admitted or seeking medical attention at our facility,” the statement read.
The hospital further expressed concern over the spreading of unverified information, urging the public and media outlets to rely on official statements and sources before circulating such sensitive news.
MTRH also reassured the public that they are committed to providing quality medical care to all patients and emphasized the importance of responsible journalism and social media usage, especially when handling sensitive cases such as child welfare and abuse.
The hospital’s clarification comes amid growing scrutiny and public interest in the safety and well-being of children in the community. MTRH called on the relevant authorities to continue their investigation into the matter and provide updates based on accurate and verified information.
As investigations into the alleged assault continue, MTRH reiterated its commitment to transparency and its role in supporting the health and welfare of all Kenyans.
