Githunguri Member of Parliament, Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba, has delivered a fiery message to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, urging him to embrace his role as a national leader rather than focusing solely on the Mt. Kenya region. In a bold statement, Wamuchomba emphasized that the country needs unity, not divisive regional politics, especially at a time when millions of Kenyans are struggling with economic hardship.
“We need leaders who fight for all Kenyans, not just one community,” Wamuchomba asserted. “The challenges we face—rising costs of living, joblessness, failing businesses—do not discriminate by tribe or region. Gachagua must step up and advocate for every Kenyan, from Kisumu to Mombasa, Turkana to Kitui.”
The outspoken legislator stressed the urgent need for inclusive leadership, warning that Kenya cannot afford to be held back by narrow ethnic interests. She noted that regional favoritism only fuels division and resentment, making it harder to achieve true national progress.
“Gachagua served as Kenya’s Deputy President, not Mt. Kenya’s Deputy President,” she said. “It is time he starts acting like a national leader—one who prioritizes the needs of all citizens, regardless of their background.”
Wamuchomba’s call comes amid growing frustration among Kenyans over leadership that appears to prioritize regional politics over national unity. She insisted that true leadership requires rising above tribal lines and making decisions that benefit the entire country.
Her remarks send a strong message to Kenya’s political class—that citizens are demanding leaders who unite rather than divide, and who put the country’s interests before regional loyalties. As Kenyans continue to push for economic and social reforms, Wamuchomba’s stance highlights a critical truth: the time for exclusive, regional politics is over—Kenya needs leaders who will fight for all, not just a select few.
