After a tough outing at the Western Region hockey competition, Namawanga Girls High School has embarked on an ambitious journey to reclaim regional and national glory in the 2026 schools’ Term One Games. Determined to turn setbacks into success, the team has intensified its training under the keen leadership of Chief Principal Jane Owuor and Head Coach Titus Wafula.
Speaking exclusively, Principal Owuor reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to seeing the hockey team crowned champions. “We have a resilient squad, and with the right focus, I am confident we will bring the title home,” she stated. However, she acknowledged the challenges of sustaining a competitive hockey team without sponsorship, citing the sport’s financial demands and the unfortunate trend of well-established schools poaching their talented players.
Despite these challenges, the principal expressed her gratitude to the school’s Board of Management and the dedicated teaching staff for their unwavering support. Coach Wafula also praised the administration’s commitment to nurturing the team, emphasizing that with continued support, Namawanga Girls will soon be a force to reckon with in Kenyan school hockey.
Beyond the hockey field, Namawanga Girls High School continues to shine academically. The school posted an impressive mean score of 6.9 in the 2024 KCSE exams, reinforcing its reputation as one of the most admired institutions in the region for both academics and co-curricular excellence. With a target of 7.3 in the 2025 exams, the school attributes its academic success to early syllabus coverage and a dedicated teaching staff that works tirelessly, often burning the midnight oil to ensure students excel.
With a clear vision for both sports and academics, Namawanga Girls High School is proving that excellence is not just a goal—it’s a culture. As they prepare for the 2026 hockey championship and strive for academic brilliance, the school remains a beacon of determination, resilience, and success.
