In a well-executed operation, detectives have successfully apprehended a notorious burglary gang that had been wreaking havoc in the Machakos and Joska neighborhoods. Wycliffe Matheka Kithuku, alias Uthex, along with his accomplices Cynthia Mbithe Musyoka and Jackson Wambua Mutinda, were arrested after being linked to a series of daring break-ins at local hardware stores.
The arrests came after a series of investigations into the hardware burglaries, with detectives coordinating their efforts to track down the suspects. During the operation, authorities recovered crucial evidence, including a motorcycle (registration number KMGP 114M) used by the criminals for their getaways. Additionally, detectives seized tools commonly used in the burglaries, including a bolt cutter and a long metal rod, which the suspects allegedly used to intimidate watchmen during their heists.
The breakthrough came when detectives managed to corner Brian Wambua Manza in Machakos town. With no escape route left, Manza was pressured into revealing the whereabouts of stolen goods. He led authorities to a scrap metal dealer, where a hidden stash of items was recovered. Among the haul were 200 kilograms of nails, 25 kilograms of hoop iron, and a laptop—goods that had been taken from a Joska hardware store.
Further investigation revealed a shocking detail: Kithuku, Mutinda, and Manza are all ex-convicts, recently released from Machakos GK Prison. Despite their newfound freedom, the trio’s criminal activities quickly resumed, culminating in their eventual capture by law enforcement.
The suspects are now back in police custody, where they are undergoing processing and will face charges in court. The stolen items are securely stored as exhibits, awaiting presentation in court as evidence.
The arrests bring an end to a string of burglaries that had been plaguing the local community, and authorities are hopeful that these successful arrests will send a strong message to criminals targeting local businesses.
Detectives have pledged to continue working diligently to ensure the safety and security of residents and businesses in the Machakos and Joska areas, ensuring that criminals will face swift justice.
