The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, attended a luncheon today in honor of the outgoing Commissioners of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi. The event was held to recognize the contributions and achievements of the second commission as it completed its tenure.
During the luncheon, the outgoing Chairperson of the Commission, Mr. Eliud N. Kinuthia, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto for the opportunity to serve the nation and play a key role in shaping the National Security Sector. Mr. Kinuthia acknowledged the President’s leadership and support, which set a clear direction for the Commission’s work during its time in office.
Reflecting on the Commission's achievements, Mr. Kinuthia highlighted several key milestones, including the recruitment of 10,932 police officers and 1,128 civilian staff. He also emphasized the successful negotiation of a salary increment for police officers, a significant accomplishment in improving the welfare of the force.
In his address, IG Kanja praised the outgoing Commissioners for their dedication and excellent service throughout their six-year tenure. He acknowledged their crucial role in advancing the interests of the National Police Service and commended their efforts in ensuring the organization’s continued growth and professionalism.
The event was also attended by senior officials including the NPS Secretary Administration/Accounting Officer, Ms. Bernice Lemedeket, Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (DIG-APS), Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mr. Mohamed I. Amin, and NPS Director of Corporate Communication, Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, CP, among others.
The luncheon served as a fitting conclusion to the tenure of the second National Police Service Commission, which has left an indelible mark on the country’s law enforcement sector.
