Oscar Sudi Accuses TransNzoia Governor Natembeya of Spreading Tribalism

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has launched a scathing attack on TransNzoia Governor George Natembeya, accusing him of fueling tribalism and neglecting his duties to the people of TransNzoia. In a statement to the press, Sudi criticized Natembeya for continuously focusing on tribal issues rather than prioritizing development and the well-being of his constituents.

"Governor Natembeya has done nothing to address the needs of the people of TransNzoia. Instead of working to uplift his people, he has been moving from one place to another, spreading tribal sentiments," Sudi charged. "By constantly talking about his tribe, he is dividing the people along tribal lines, which is poisoning the unity that is necessary for progress."

Sudi went further to express concern over Natembeya’s approach to leadership, arguing that it was detrimental to the unity of the county. He claimed that the Governor’s rhetoric was only deepening divisions and preventing any meaningful development from taking place.

"It is sad to see a leader who should be building bridges instead of walls," Sudi said. "As an elected leader, Natembeya should focus on ensuring that every citizen in TransNzoia benefits from the available resources and opportunities, rather than focusing solely on his own community."

The remarks come at a time when tribal politics have become a prominent issue in Kenya’s political landscape, with various leaders accused of promoting ethnic divisions for personal or political gain. Sudi’s criticism adds to the growing debate about the role of politicians in fostering unity or perpetuating division in the country.

Governor Natembeya, who took office in 2022, has yet to respond publicly to the accusations. However, this latest spat highlights the ongoing tensions between leaders in the region and could have significant political ramifications as the 2027 general elections approach.

As the political rhetoric heats up, many are calling for leaders to focus on issues of national development and unity, urging them to move beyond ethnic politics in order to build a stronger, more inclusive Kenya.
