President William Ruto today paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Wafula Chebukati, the former Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), during his funeral service in Sabata, Trans-Nzoia County. The late Chebukati, who passed away recently, was remembered as a history-maker, ground-breaker, and a true hero of the nation who put the country first throughout his distinguished career.

Speaking at the funeral, President Ruto described Chebukati as a man of courage, firm principles, and independence, whose leadership was characterized by integrity and diligence. "A great man, Wafula Chebukati, has rested. He was a history-maker, a ground-breaker, and a hero of our nation who put the country first. He was courageous, firm, and independent-minded; a man of immense integrity," President Ruto said, his voice filled with admiration and respect for the late IEBC Chairman.

President Ruto further noted that Chebukati's legacy of service to the public would remain etched in Kenya’s history. As the service concluded, President Ruto called on the nation to honor Chebukati’s legacy by continuing to uphold the principles of fairness, integrity, and transparency in all aspects of public service. "Let us work together to ensure that Kenya remains a beacon of democracy and good governance, just as Chebukati worked tirelessly to ensure free and fair elections in our country," he said.
