The National General Secretary of the Kenya National Private Security Workers Union, Bro. Isaac GM Andabwa, met with Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga yesterday to discuss critical challenges facing the private security sector in Kenya. The meeting aimed to address the pressing issues impacting both employers and employees within the industry.

Andabwa raised several concerns, including the welfare of private security officers, the need for improved industry regulations, and broader challenges that hinder the sector’s growth. The union leader emphasized the importance of fair treatment for security personnel and the need for reforms that would enhance their working conditions.

Raila Odinga, who attentively listened to the concerns, acknowledged the significance of the issues raised and assured Andabwa of his commitment to advocating for comprehensive solutions. Odinga expressed his support for the private security workforce, recognizing the essential role they play in ensuring national security.

“I deeply appreciate the opportunity to engage with the union on these critical matters,” Odinga said during the meeting. “I am committed to ensuring that the rights of private security workers are fully protected and that their working conditions are improved. Your work is vital to the safety of our citizens, and it is only fair that you receive the recognition and respect you deserve.”

Andabwa expressed his gratitude for Odinga's willingness to engage in dialogue and address the challenges faced by the private security sector. He emphasized that the support of influential leaders like Odinga is crucial in securing necessary reforms and raising the profile of the private security workforce in Kenya.

“This meeting marks a major step towards the recognition and betterment of the private security workforce in Kenya,” Andabwa said. “On behalf of the union and the entire private security industry, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Baba for his unwavering dedication to serving all Kenyans, including those in the private security sector.”

Andabwa also lauded Odinga’s consistent efforts to champion workers' rights, highlighting his advocacy for fair treatment, job security, and improved working conditions for all sectors, including the private security industry. As the push for reform intensifies, stakeholders are optimistic that this engagement will lead to meaningful change within the sector.

The meeting concluded with Andabwa extending his best wishes to Odinga, praying for continued wisdom and guidance as he works to improve the welfare of Kenyans. The union remains hopeful that this engagement marks the beginning of positive transformation for private security workers across the country.
