In a bid to strengthen Kenya’s agricultural supply chains and enhance farmers' prosperity, Principal Secretary for Agriculture, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, CBS, has embarked on an extensive working visit across the North Rift and Western regions. His tour focused on inspecting key agricultural depots to evaluate the ongoing distribution of subsidized fertilizers and seeds—a critical intervention in boosting farm productivity.
Dr. Ronoh visited Kitale National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), Kenya Seed Company Ltd in Trans Nzoia County, Eldoret Depot, and Moisbridge Depot in Uasin Gishu County, assessing the efficiency of distribution systems and engaging with key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
"Ensuring our farmers receive essential inputs on time is a priority. With the government's recent commitment, we have successfully dispatched over 130,000 bags of fertilizer nationwide, guaranteeing seamless access during this critical planting season," said Dr. Ronoh.
During the visit, collaborative discussions with county leadership led to new strategies aimed at strengthening last-mile delivery systems. Key among these strategies is the establishment of additional distribution points, particularly through cooperative networks, to ensure farmers in remote areas can access inputs without delays.
Dr. Ronoh was accompanied by Kenya Seed Company Managing Director, Sammy K. Chepsiror, and other distinguished stakeholders, highlighting a unified commitment to driving agricultural transformation.
Farmers in the region have welcomed the efforts, citing improved accessibility to subsidized inputs as a major boost to food security and economic empowerment. The initiative aligns with the government's broader agenda to modernize agriculture and enhance productivity for long-term sustainability.
With these interventions in place, the Ministry of Agriculture remains committed to revitalizing the sector, supporting farmers, and ensuring Kenya's continued progress towards agricultural self-sufficiency.
