A team from the Telecommunication Engineering and Networking Program (TENP), led by Mr. David Kipngetich, the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Mr. Jared Lagat, the Deputy/ILO, visited Sayare Radio and TV on Tuesday, 25th March 2025. The purpose of the visit was to explore the potential for a partnership between the two institutions, specifically aimed at providing dual training for Telecommunication Engineering trainees.
During the visit, discussions focused on the possibility of establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize the partnership. The MOU would provide a framework for collaboration in offering dual training, which would combine both theoretical and practical learning experiences for students in the field of Telecommunication Engineering.
The TENP team was warmly welcomed by Ms. Margaret Wandera, the Marketing Manager at Sayare Radio and TV, Mr. Marius Kemboi, the Corporate Marketing Manager, and Ms. Joyline Kalya, who represented the company during the meeting. The hosts expressed their interest in the initiative and emphasized the importance of integrating industry experience into academic training to better equip students for the demands of the telecommunication sector.
“We believe that such a partnership will not only enhance the practical skills of our trainees but also contribute to the growth of the telecommunication industry in the region,” said Mr. Kipngetich, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering at TENP.
The potential partnership aims to create a synergy between academic institutions and media houses, providing students with hands-on experience in a real-world setting. This collaboration aligns with TENP’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education for Telecommunication Engineering students and to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
As discussions continue, both parties are optimistic about the future of the partnership and its potential to transform the training landscape for Telecommunication Engineering in the country.
