A somber mood descended upon the residents of Kapkagaon, the St. Mary's Girls and Tachasis fraternity, as well as the entire Nandi County, following the sudden death of 17-year-old Sharon Jesang. The young student, who was a candidate for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), tragically lost her life in a road traffic accident early this morning.
Sharon, who was traveling with a group of her colleagues, was involved in the accident along the notorious Chepsangor blackspot. The vehicle they were traveling in lost control and veered off the road. While Sharon succumbed to her injuries, 18 of her fellow students were injured and are currently receiving treatment at both Nandi Hills and Kapsabet hospitals.
Described by those who knew her as respectful, hardworking, loving, kind-hearted, good-natured, and brilliant, Sharon’s untimely passing has left a profound void. She had initially attended Cheliliat Academy in Konami before transferring to Tachasis, where she was a dedicated student with dreams of becoming a gynaecologist. Her aspirations, however, now remain only in the memories of those who admired her.
Her absence is especially felt in her class, where her chair in Form Four Alpha now stands empty, a poignant reminder of the life she had yet to fully live. Sharon's classmates and teachers at Tachasis School have been left devastated by the loss of a bright and promising young woman.
"Sharon was not just a student; she was a beacon of positivity and hard work. Her vision for the future and her dedication to her studies will be greatly missed," said one of her teachers.
To the KapMabwai family and Sharon's school community at Tachasis, heartfelt condolences are being extended, with many offering prayers for strength and comfort in the wake of this monumental loss.
As the community mourns Sharon’s passing, well-wishes are also being sent to the 18 students who are currently recovering in hospital. "I wish a quick recovery to all those receiving treatment," said Kipkorir Birgen, who expressed his sorrow and solidarity with the affected families.
Sharon Jesang's life may have been tragically cut short, but her legacy of kindness, ambition, and brilliance will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
