The County Government of Trans Nzoia, through its Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, has received a significant boost in its efforts to manage climate risks with the donation of an Isuzu Dmax vehicle by the Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) program.

The vehicle was handed over to Trans Nzoia Deputy County Secretary George Kisaka, Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change Chief Officer Dorothy Nyukuri, Machewa Ward Representative Kisiang’ani Wambwa, and Sikhendu Ward Representative Andrew Sichangi Kutitila at the department's offices near the County Fire Station.

During the handover ceremony, Mr. Kisaka, who represented Governor Dr. George Natembeya and Acting CECM Wanjala Pepela, expressed the challenges the department had been facing in transporting staff across various locations. He noted that the new vehicle would significantly ease these difficulties, enhancing the department's ability to deliver services in environmental management. "Our staff have been finding it extremely difficult moving from one place to the other. This vehicle will go a long way in assisting the department in various fields to render services to the people in the environmental field," said Mr. Kisaka.

The Governor, through the Deputy County Secretary, expressed gratitude to FLLoCA for their continued support of the county's environmental sector. He highlighted that many counties, including Trans Nzoia, face numerous challenges related to climate change and emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts with development partners to address these issues effectively.

Ms. Nyukuri, the Chief Officer, acknowledged the positive impact of FLLoCA's support on the ground, stating, "We extend our thanks to the program and look forward to continuing with the engagement to ensure locals benefit from programs to be implemented."

Honorable Andrew Sichangi Kutitila also expressed his satisfaction with the donation, noting the county's commitment to ensuring the proper utilization of resources. "We are pleased to work closely with the County Government of Trans Nzoia, which has been keen on ensuring proper utilization of resources received," said Hon. Kutitila.

Honorable Kisiang’ani Wambwa, the Machewa Ward Representative, reiterated the importance of the partnership between elected representatives and the Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change in tackling climate change. He emphasized that the FLLoCA program would be pivotal in helping the department meet its climate action goals.

The vehicle donation is expected to improve the county's ability to manage climate-related risks and enhance its efforts in environmental conservation and natural resource management. The collaboration with FLLoCA marks a continued commitment to addressing the challenges posed by climate change in Trans Nzoia and ensuring sustainable development for the region's residents.
