A man has come under scrutiny after establishing a fake police patrol base within Cherus Centre, Kesses Sub-County, without the knowledge or approval of the National Police Service (NPS). The suspect, identified as Collins Leitich alias Chepkulei, reportedly transformed a building owned by Stephen Maiyo into a mock police station.
According to sources, the incident took place in the Kamuyu Police Post area, where Leitich, a resident of Asis Village in Ndugulu Location, Kesses, took the initiative to paint the building in police force colors, giving it the appearance of an official police patrol base. This move was made without the consent or knowledge of any senior police officers, raising serious security and operational concerns.
The suspicious act was discovered on March 8, 2025, at approximately 11:40 AM, prompting immediate action from local authorities. The case, registered under reference number OB04/08/03/2025, has since been classified as a police under investigation (P.U.I) and investigations have been launched into the matter.
The authorities have expressed concerns over the potential security risks posed by the establishment of unauthorized police structures, which could confuse the public and potentially aid criminals in impersonating officers. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the incident and the motivations behind it.
Local residents have been urged to be cautious and report any suspicious activities in their areas to ensure the safety and security of the community.
