Vihiga Boys High School is on a mission to become a leading center for both academic and sports excellence in Kenya. Under the leadership of Principal Albert Masiolo, the extra-county school is making strides toward achieving this goal. Masiolo has expressed his commitment to elevating the school's performance in academics while strengthening its already thriving sports programs.
One of the school's standout achievements has been in rugby, where Vihiga Boys has built a reputation as a formidable team in local and national competitions. The team’s success can be credited to head coach Abdalla, who took over in September 2022. Since his appointment, the school has consistently delivered outstanding results, dominating both rugby 7s and rugby 15s tournaments.
In 2022, Vihiga Boys became the National Prescott Cup Champions, marking the beginning of their rise in rugby. The momentum continued in 2023 when they finished as first runners-up in the FEASSA, KSSSA, and WRSSSA Rugby 7s tournaments. They also clinched the Vihiga County Rugby 7s and 15s championships while finishing as WRSSSA Rugby 15s runners-up.
The team further cemented its legacy in 2024, winning the FEASSA Rugby 7s Championship and securing multiple runner-up positions in major competitions. They were crowned Vihiga County Rugby 7s and 15s Champions and continued to compete fiercely at the regional level. In 2025, they achieved another milestone by emerging as the WRSSSA Rugby 15s Champions.
With such a strong track record, Vihiga Boys is proving to be a powerhouse in Kenyan rugby. Principal Masiolo remains determined to balance sports excellence with academic achievement, ensuring students thrive both on and off the field. As the school continues to shine, all eyes are on Vihiga Boys to see how far they can go in shaping future sports stars and scholars in Kenya.
