Activist Kipkorir Ngetich Demands Protection for Victims in Alleged Human Trafficking and Organ Trade Scandal

Eldoret-based human rights activist Kipkorir Ngetich has raised alarm over the safety of victims and potential witnesses in the unfolding human trafficking and illegal organ trade scandal that has rocked parts of the country. In a strongly worded statement, Ngetich urged the Ministry of Interior and the Office of the Inspector General of Police to provide immediate security to those affected, warning that their lives are in imminent danger.

“This is not just a local scandal—it is an international crime. The safety of witnesses must be treated as a matter of national urgency,” Ngetich said.

According to preliminary reports and claims made by Ngetich, the victims—mostly young men from poor families—were lured into the illegal trade with promises of money and overseas job opportunities. Many have since suffered severe health complications after allegedly donating their kidneys in suspicious medical arrangements. The activist claims that emissaries linked to the criminal syndicate have been deployed in Kipkenyo, on the outskirts of Eldoret, where several of the victims are reportedly living.

“There are ongoing attempts by the perpetrators to either bribe or eliminate witnesses in order to destroy evidence. We have reliable information that some of these emissaries have pitched camp in Kipkenyo,” he added.

Ngetich also claimed that the criminal ring had far-reaching networks involving rogue doctors, hospital administrators, and corrupt government officials, some of whom allegedly provided safe spaces and protection for the operation to thrive. He cited hospitals, particularly renal departments, as having been complicit in the illegal transplants.

“This syndicate took advantage of the desperation of poor youth. It’s heartbreaking. These victims were easy targets, and they’ve been left to suffer, many of them dealing with post-surgery complications in silence,” he said.

The activist further pointed to alleged secret meetings held in Kapseret to plan and execute the illegal operations, suggesting the involvement of influential individuals with both financial and political power.

Ngetich applauded newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Adan Duale, for his prompt response in ordering investigations into the scandal, and urged the CS to ensure no cover-up takes place.

“We commend CS Adan Duale for moving swiftly and issuing clear directives. But this must go further—we need comprehensive investigations and arrests. No one should be shielded, including senior government officials and medical personnel implicated in the syndicate,” said Ngetich.

He called for a thorough probe into certain security personnel and ministry officials who allegedly facilitated the crimes, either by turning a blind eye or directly benefiting from the operations. Ngetich lamented that many families have been left devastated, with victims now dealing with long-term health problems and economic hardship.

“This is a matter of human rights, justice, and accountability. The international community is watching. We cannot afford to let such a grave crime go unpunished,” he concluded.
