All Systems Go for UDA Grassroots Elections in 22 Counties This Weekend

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has confirmed that preparations for Phase Two of its grassroots elections are complete, setting the stage for the exercise in 22 counties across the country this weekend.

The two-day event, slated for Friday and Saturday, was the focus of a high-level planning meeting held Tuesday morning at Hustler Plaza. The session was chaired by UDA Party Chairperson, H.E. Cecily Mbarire, and brought together the party’s National Steering Committee, the National Elections Board (NEB), and senior management.

NEB Chairperson, Eng. Anthony Mwaura, assured the leadership that all logistical arrangements for the polls had been finalized. He confirmed that poll officials were fully prepared, and election materials were ready for dispatch.

“We have finalized all the arrangements for the elections. The personnel are ready while poll materials are assembled and ready for dispatch,” said Eng. Mwaura.

The announcement comes just days after the party’s Disciplinary Committee, led by Charles Njenga, issued a stern warning to members and supporters against violating the party’s constitution and code of conduct during the elections. The committee pledged to take swift action against any individuals found to be engaging in misconduct or violence.

On Friday, April 11, UDA members in Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, Kisii, and Nyamira counties will cast their votes. The process will continue on Saturday, April 12, in Garissa, Tana River, Bungoma, Turkana, Migori, Kisumu, Siaya, Isiolo, Marsabit, Wajir, Mandera, Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, and Lamu counties.

The grassroots elections are part of UDA’s broader strategy to entrench internal democracy, strengthen its party structures, and enhance preparedness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
