Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson has wooed global traders, financiers, and industrialist to take advantage of Nairobi's investment opportunities, including human capital, to spur their companies’ growth.
Speaking during the official opening of World Chambers Federation Africa Summit 2025 at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), the governor said Nairobi City boasts of opportunities beyond the traditional investment sectors, such as industry, focusing on enhancing innovation and commerce where young people develop fintech solutions, health-tech applications and new business models that meet everyday challenges.
Sakaja emphasized that Nairobi County has partnered with both national government and private sector players to establish community innovation centres that provide youths with Internet access, training, and mentorship opportunities, playing a vital role in nurturing talents and enabling innovators to contribute directly to the broader national and continental goals of digital transformation.
"Nairobi has long been a hub of innovation and commerce on the African continent. It is a home for start-ups, tech incubators, and creative entrepreneurs, all pushing the bounds of the possible innovation hubs and tech parties where young people are developing fintech solutions, health-tech applications and new business models to meet everyday challenges." said Governor Sakaja Johnson.
"Nairobi’s diversity is our strength that has made the city a cosmopolitan commercial capital with more than 100 multinational companies. We have become a natural melting and meeting point for East Africa Trade because of our logistics infrastructure like Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Standard Gauge Railway that links us to the regional and global market. Nairobi is poised to serve as a key in the continental trade network, connecting global traders, financiers, and industrialists." he added.
The governor noted that in collaboration with the national government and private sector players, the county has made significant strides in improving road networks, expanding public transport, and planning for smart city initiatives that leverage technology to improve mobility and services.
The World Chambers Federation Africa Summit 2025 brought together leaders from around the world, including 500 small and medium-sized enterprises and more 300 entrepreneurs to discuss and explore collaborative opportunities on key issues affecting global economies.
