Comfort Homes Embarks on a Verdant Crusade to Commemorate Easter

By John Kariuki

In a powerful gesture marking this year’s Easter season, Dr. Hezekiah Kariuki Mwangi, Founder, Managing Director, and CEO of Together As One and Comfort Homes, led a spirited tree planting initiative today in Kirinyaga County, calling on Kenyans to embrace environmental conservation as a symbol of hope and renewal.

Speaking during the seedling distribution event this morning, Dr. Kariuki emphasized the importance of honoring Easter through acts that give back to the planet. “Easter is a season of renewal, restoration, and rebirth,” he said. “There is no better way to celebrate than by planting trees, living symbols of life, growth, and resilience.”

Alongside environmental champion Rotich Colleen, Dr. Kariuki was warmly received by the people of Kirinyaga as he flagged off the donation of over 10,000 Hass avocado seedlings, as well as macadamia seedlings, to local residents.

“Today we spent the day in Kirinyaga distributing avocado and macadamia seedlings together with Rotich Colleen,” said Dr. Kariuki. “Let me say, the team spirit and the reception in Kirinyaga was exceptional.”

Dr. Kariuki, a respected entrepreneur and passionate environmentalist, believes that trees are vital to combating climate change, restoring biodiversity, and ensuring food security for future generations. “Trees are the lungs of our planet,” he said. “They purify the air, protect biodiversity, and restore ecosystems. Planting a tree is more than just an environmental act, it is a commitment to the future.”

The campaign, spearheaded by Comfort Homes and Together As One, is part of a broader effort to promote community based conservation. Dr. Kariuki sees grassroots involvement as essential to creating a sustainable Kenya. “We must all rise to the occasion and take ownership of the planet’s wellbeing. Planting a tree today is a gift to future generations.”

Beyond environmental impact, Dr. Kariuki highlighted the social value of communal tree planting activities. “These events bring people together, build a sense of community, and instill a shared sense of responsibility. They inspire a culture of environmental care that will outlive us.”

As Kenya continues to face the consequences of deforestation and climate change, leaders like Dr. Kariuki are offering a hopeful blueprint, blending business success with ecological responsibility. Through today’s initiative in Kirinyaga, he reaffirmed his belief that every Kenyan has a role to play in nurturing both land and legacy.
