The Cerebral Palsy Society of Kenya (CPSK) held a colorful charity walk and concert in Eldoret over the weekend to raise funds and awareness for children living with cerebral palsy. The event brought together local choirs, including the popular gospel group The Bereans, who energized the crowd with uplifting performances after the walk.
Participants walked from Langas to Gulab Lochab Hall, where the concert was held, drawing attention from residents along the route and sending a strong message of inclusion, support, and love for children living with the condition.
Among the guests was Uasin Gishu County Assembly representative for persons living with disabilities, Hon. Regina Chumba, who joined the walk and addressed participants at the concert. In an interview after the event, Hon. Chumba emphasized the importance of education, health, and equal opportunities for children with cerebral palsy.
“We are advocating for inclusive education so that children with cerebral palsy can be integrated into mainstream schools, just like any other child,” said Hon. Chumba. “We are also pushing for government support in areas such as health and social services to ensure they live fulfilling lives.”
She also noted that reducing stigma is a top priority for her office. “These children deserve love and acceptance. We are working to change attitudes in the community and ensure these children are not hidden or isolated,” she added.
The event was part of CPSK’s ongoing efforts to support children with cerebral palsy across the country through therapy, education, and advocacy. Organizers said the funds raised will go towards therapy sessions, mobility aids, and caregiver support.
“This is not just about money; it’s about building a society that embraces all children, regardless of their abilities,” said one CPSK official.
The walk and concert ended on a high note, with performances that moved many in the crowd and renewed calls for continued support for children with special needs.
