Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Ali Joho has expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of George Oduor, a long-serving aide and bodyguard to Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Oduor, who had been undergoing treatment at a city hospital, passed away on Wednesday.
In a heartfelt message shared on X (formerly Twitter), CS Joho described Oduor as a close friend and a man of unwavering principles, highlighting his dedication to making a positive impact on many lives. “It is with grief and a deep sense of loss that I mourn the death of my close friend, George Oduor. George was more than just a patriot; he was a man of integrity whose unwavering commitment and loyalty positively impacted many lives,” Joho said.
Joho’s tribute echoed sentiments shared earlier by ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga, who also mourned the loss of Oduor. Raila remembered Oduor as a steadfast and vigilant presence in his life, describing him as a calm, confident, and highly professional aide who was always dedicated to his duties. “He was a vigilant, calm, confident, and extremely professional aide dedicated to his duty and a dependable rock by my side through tumultuous times. I will miss George, and I am sorry for all the friends who miss him already,” Raila said in his message of condolence.
Oduor was known for his loyalty and dedication to Raila Odinga and the larger Jaramogi Oginga Odinga family, serving as a trusted aide through many challenging periods. His passing has left a deep void among those who knew him, with both political leaders and family members mourning the loss of a man who played a crucial role in the lives of those around him.
