CS Kipchumba Murkomen visited the Coast Regional Immigration Headquarters to assess the operations and service delivery at the facility. During the visit, Murkomen expressed satisfaction with the current quality of services provided but highlighted the increasing demand for immigration services in the region.
"The quality of service delivery here is impressive," said Murkomen. "However, with the growing demand for services, we are working to secure additional office space in Mombasa. We are also making significant progress in plans to roll out passport services at the Immigration Office in Malindi to better serve Kilifi County and the larger North Coast region."
The CS was warmly received by Dr. Josef Mwikya, the Officer in Charge of the Coast Region, alongside other staff members. He was also accompanied by Immigration and Citizen Services PS Dr. Belio Kipsang and Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha, among other government officials.
Murkomen's visit marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and efficiency in the delivery of immigration services to citizens in the coastal region. The expansion plans aim to reduce congestion and improve service times for applicants, making immigration services more accessible to the public.
The announcement of the Malindi passport services rollout is expected to greatly benefit residents of Kilifi County and the surrounding areas, streamlining processes and reducing the need for long-distance travel to Mombasa.
Officials are optimistic that these developments will enhance the capacity of immigration offices in the region and ultimately improve the overall experience for residents and travelers alike.
