In a strongly worded statement issued earlier today, Eldoret-based human rights activist Kipkorir Ngetich has come out in full defense of President William Ruto, condemning critics of the Head of State's recent international engagements, particularly his outreach to China for development partnerships.
Ngetich accused detractors of being "self-seekers and hypocrites" whose intention is to stall the progress of government projects and mislead Kenyans for narrow political gain. He emphasized that President Ruto’s international visits, including the recent one to China, are part of a broader vision to ensure the completion of key infrastructure and development projects across the country.
"Those who are attacking the President for seeking external support are not acting in the interest of the nation," said Ngetich. "They would rather see projects stall and the government fail, just to advance their shallow and borrow-minded political agendas."
He noted that Hon. Ndindi Nyoro, the former Chairperson of the Budget Committee in Parliament, should understand the necessity of borrowing and international cooperation in bridging budgetary gaps. “Every government in the world operates on budget estimates, not on actual revenues at hand. That’s why partnerships are vital,” Ngetich added.
The activist also congratulated President Ruto for what he termed a "bold and patriotic move" in seeking partnership with the Chinese government, arguing that no nation can industrialize without the help of both local and international development partners.
He called on Parliament and other leaders to focus their energy on crafting and enforcing strong financial management policies to curb corruption and wastage, rather than criticizing borrowing. “The President has done nothing wrong. His efforts should be supported by all Kenyans of goodwill who love this country and want to see a better future,” he stated.
According to Ngetich, political leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka and sections of Parliament should stop what he called “hypocrisy and witch-hunting” and instead become part of the solution by ensuring accountability and transparency in public finance management.
“The success of our national dream rests with all of us, not just the President. Let’s stop the propaganda and instead push for full implementation and timely completion of government projects now that funds are becoming available,” he urged.
He concluded by affirming that President Ruto’s administration has shown resilience despite many challenges and that his efforts to fulfill campaign promises should be given a fair chance.
“Our message to His Excellency is simple: Stay firm, stay focused. Kenyans are watching and have high hopes. Don’t be distracted by the noise,” said Ngetich.
He also warned the youth against falling prey to incitement and political propaganda, stressing that those outside government are not miracle workers either. "Let’s build together, not tear each other down," he finished.
