Eldoret National Polytechnic Partners with Ujima Foundation and Schneider Electric to Boost Green Technology Training

The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has taken a significant step toward enhancing green energy training and sustainable technology adoption through a new partnership with Ujima Foundation and Schneider Electric. The collaboration was formalized on Tuesday with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a pivotal investment in renewable energy education and capacity building.

The MoU will see the donation of cutting-edge Solar PV Training Equipment and E-Mobility Charging Units to TENP, significantly strengthening the institution's technical infrastructure. The equipment will be housed in the Electrical and Electronics Department, positioning the polytechnic as a regional hub for training in renewable energy and electric mobility technologies.

Beyond the equipment donation, the partnership includes a strong capacity development component aimed at empowering trainers through technology transfer and hands-on experience. This initiative is expected to enhance the employability and entrepreneurial skills of graduates, aligning with Kenya’s broader green energy and skills development agenda.

Ujima Foundation was represented at the ceremony by CEO Mr. Charles Odhiambo (2nd left), while Ms. Janet Langa (right) represented Schneider Electric. The signing was witnessed by Madam Anne Kiplimo (left), Director of Greening at the State Department for TVET. The event was hosted by The Eldoret National Polytechnic Chief Principal, Dr. Charles Koech.

Dr. Koech hailed the partnership as a milestone in advancing practical skills and sustainable development. “This collaboration will enable our trainees to keep pace with global advancements in clean energy and mobility solutions. We are proud to be part of a future-focused initiative that directly benefits our students and the country,” he said.

The initiative reinforces TENP's commitment to providing industry-relevant training while supporting Kenya's climate resilience goals through technology-driven education.
