On April 7, 2025, Eldoret National Polytechnic had the honor of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, and various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as part of the ongoing field verification exercise for the TVET expansion project in the North Rift region.
The visitors, who were received by Eldoret National Polytechnic's Chief Principal, Dr. Charles Koech, conducted a thorough assessment of the institution's progress in implementing key programmes and projects under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) expansion initiative. The exercise, which is being carried out across various regions, aims to evaluate the implementation status of priority programmes, identify challenges, and provide actionable recommendations for successful completion.
In his remarks, Dr. Koech highlighted the significance of the visit in ensuring that the Polytechnic’s projects are aligned with national development strategies, including the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), the Fourth Medium-Term Plan, and the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budget allocations. He emphasized that the Polytechnic’s efforts are central to equipping students with skills that are in high demand in the national and regional job markets.
"We are pleased to welcome the visitors today as part of the ongoing efforts to assess the status of key projects under the TVET expansion initiative. This visit is an important opportunity to review the progress we’ve made in strengthening the institution's role in advancing the government’s development goals," Dr. Koech stated.
The field verification visit also underscored the importance of interagency collaboration in overcoming challenges and improving project management. Dr. Koech called for enhanced coordination among government entities to optimize the impact of the TVET expansion programme.
"As we continue to implement these critical projects, the collaboration between various stakeholders, including government agencies and educational institutions, is crucial for ensuring the successful delivery of these initiatives. Our collective efforts will contribute to equipping the youth with the skills needed for meaningful employment and economic growth," Dr. Koech added.
The verification visit is part of the broader effort to ensure that the TVET expansion project not only aligns with the national development agenda but also delivers tangible outcomes for citizens. Eldoret National Polytechnic is a key player in this process, and the visit is expected to further strengthen its contribution to the country's economic transformation.
