Two men masquerading as seductive female masseuses have been arrested by detectives in Kasarani after orchestrating a string of online scams that left victims not only disappointed but also robbed of their valuables.
The suspects, identified as Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo, had been running a deceptive online operation, advertising “professional massage services” on social media platforms. But instead of a tranquil spa experience, their clients were met with a chilling twist — armed robbery.
In one recent incident reported at Kasarani Police Station, a victim who had been lured by photos of supposed attractive women offering home-based massage services found himself in a dangerous situation shortly after arriving at the designated location along Lumumba Drive.
What began as a seemingly routine massage session quickly turned into a nightmare. The “masseuses” dropped the act, brandished knives, and forced the victim to transfer Sh280,000 to their mobile account before robbing him of his other possessions and throwing him out of the premises.
Following the report, police launched a forensic investigation, which led them to the Kamiti prison area, where the suspects were found indulging in a lavish outing—likely funded by their ill-gotten gains.
The duo is currently in custody at Kasarani Police Station, where they are being processed pending arraignment. Authorities have warned the public to exercise caution when engaging services online, especially those that require in-person meetings in private residences.
"These kinds of crimes are on the rise, and we urge the public to verify identities and service providers before making appointments or payments," said a senior officer familiar with the case.
Police have also appealed to other potential victims of the scam to come forward as investigations continue.
