Farmers Party Announces Official Exit from Kenya Kwanza Coalition

In a significant political development, the Farmers Party has officially announced its exit from the Kenya Kwanza coalition. The decision was made public following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on April 7, 2025, where members unanimously resolved to sever ties with their coalition partners.

The Farmers Party had entered into the coalition agreement with Kenya Kwanza in good faith on March 23, 2022, aligning with like-minded parties to pursue a shared political agenda. However, the party now cites a consistent pattern of dishonesty, political infidelity, and a blatant disregard for both the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and the spirit of their initial coalition agreement as the primary reasons for their departure.

In a statement released after the NEC meeting, the Farmers Party expressed its regret over the dissolution of the partnership, emphasizing that despite their initial commitment to the coalition, they could no longer continue in an arrangement where their core principles and political integrity were being compromised.

"We entered into this coalition with a shared vision, and it is with deep regret that we have seen a growing divide and lack of respect for the agreements we set in place," said a spokesperson for the party. "Our decision to exit is in the best interest of the party and our supporters, as we remain committed to upholding the Constitution and ensuring that the interests of our people are prioritized."

The move is expected to have significant political implications, particularly as the Farmers Party is a key player in the agricultural sector, which is central to Kenya's economy. The coalition's dynamics are now uncertain as political analysts anticipate possible realignments and shifts within the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

The Kenya Kwanza coalition has yet to respond to the Farmers Party's exit, but the departure could signal further tensions within the ruling political alliance.
