Former Nambale MP Aspirant Ken Okwara Encourages President Ruto to Focus on Governance, Avoid "Power Gossips"

In a recent statement, former Nambale MP aspirant Ken Okwara offered his perspective on President William Ruto’s handling of political discourse, particularly regarding the ongoing discussions around former Deputy Governor Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment and the controversial "10 billion maneno."

Okwara, who has been an active voice in political circles, expressed his belief that President Ruto, given his stature and position as the head of state, should have refrained from engaging in what he described as "power gossips" related to political controversies.

“At the level and stature where President William Ruto stands, I honestly believe he should not have allowed himself to be sucked into the trivialities of political gossip, especially in response to questions about the former Deputy Governor’s impeachment,” Okwara said during a candid media interaction in Nairobi. “The President does not owe any explanations to the people of Kenya for certain decisions that he makes. The bulk of responsibility stops with him. If he takes actions for the betterment of the country, then so be it.”

Okwara, a seasoned political observer, argued that the President’s involvement in such discussions only risks diverting attention from the more important tasks at hand—leading the nation effectively. He specifically pointed to the ongoing “10 billion maneno” controversy as an issue that could open up unnecessary debates and speculation.

“The ‘10 billion maneno’ is a Pandora’s box that should not have been opened,” he added. “By discussing it publicly, the President only fuels further distraction. I honestly wish he did not talk about it. There are bigger matters to address, and the nation needs leadership that focuses on solving our problems, not feeding into the drama.”

Furthermore, Okwara spoke on the importance of national unity and the need for Kenyans to support the President in his efforts, especially in Mount Kenya, a region that has seen growing tension due to the country’s political divisions. He called on the people of Mount Kenya to put aside their differences and allow President Ruto the space to lead.

“The Mulima or Mount Kenya people must welcome the President. He is our leader, and whether we like him or not, we must allow him his space. His presence in Mount Kenya is vital for the country, as it will help reduce the tension that has been created by those who claim to speak the ‘truth,’” Okwara said. “We must remember that national peace and cohesion are bigger than individual egos.”

Okwara’s comments reflected his broader view that President Ruto must focus on governance and the exercise of his powers without being bogged down by petty political arguments. He emphasized that now, more than ever, Kenya needs a strong leader who can steer the country toward prosperity while maintaining stability.

“My encouragement to President Ruto is simple: You have the sword. Now, exercise your powers to govern with wisdom and decisiveness,” Okwara concluded. “The people of Kenya are looking to you for leadership, and it’s time to rise above the noise and lead this country toward the future we all deserve.”

As Kenya navigates its political landscape in these challenging times, Okwara’s advice serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between political engagement and effective governance. The President’s actions in the coming months will likely play a crucial role in shaping Kenya’s future, and Okwara’s call for focused leadership is one that many across the country are echoing.
