Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s administration has taken another significant step toward empowering the youth of Uasin Gishu by investing Ksh 15 million in vocational training.
The investment includes the distribution of modern tools and equipment to the county's 13 Vocational Training Centers (VTCs), which play a vital role in providing young people with the skills needed to excel in today’s job market.
“Our youth are at the heart of our education agenda. Equipping them with practical skills is key to unlocking their potential and preparing them for success in a competitive job market,” Governor Bii stated.
The governor emphasized that hands-on skills are increasingly crucial in today’s fast-evolving job market, and that the county’s VTCs are essential in equipping young people with the knowledge and expertise required to seize these opportunities.
“With this Ksh 15 million investment, we are ensuring that our VTCs are well-equipped to provide top-notch practical training. We are committed to helping our youth become market-ready and competitive,” Governor Bii added.
In addition to this investment, the Governor called on the principals of the VTCs to work towards increasing enrollment and expanding access to vocational education.
“We need to ensure that as many young people as possible have access to these critical training opportunities. I call on all VTC principals to focus on increasing enrollment and making vocational education more accessible to our youth,” Said Governor Bii.
On his part, Deputy Governor Hon. Evans Kapkea emphasized the administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector.
"Two years into this administration, we remain focused on boosting the education sector and creating more opportunities for our youth to succeed," said Kapkea.
This initiative aligns with the county’s broader goal of youth empowerment and ensuring that graduates from the VTCs are prepared to thrive in the workforce or pursue entrepreneurial ventures.
