Governor Jonathan Bii Highlights Uasin Gishu's Efforts to Improve Revenue Collection and Service Delivery

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii today reaffirmed the county's commitment to its growth through consistent improvements in own-source revenue and the delivery of quality services to its residents. The Governor's remarks came after hosting a delegation that included his colleague, Turkana Governor Hon. Jeremiah Lomorukai, and the Chairperson of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), Mrs. Mary Wanyonyi Chebukati, at the Uasin Gishu Service Centre.

A Model of Efficiency: The Service Centre's Role in Revenue Collection

Governor Bii took the opportunity to showcase the progress made in enhancing revenue collection within the county. He emphasized that Uasin Gishu's growth is deeply rooted in the county's ability to generate revenue locally, which enables it to fund crucial development projects and deliver essential services to its hardworking residents.

"Our growth is anchored in the consistent improvement of own-source revenue. By enhancing revenue collection, we can provide better services to the people who rely on us," Governor Bii said. "We are working tirelessly to ensure that our hardworking residents receive the services they deserve, and the Service Centre plays a pivotal role in that."

The Uasin Gishu Service Centre, which was the focal point of the morning's meeting, has become a key player in streamlining revenue operations in the county. The Centre has been instrumental in improving the efficiency of service delivery, ensuring that services are not only faster but also more accessible to the residents. Governor Bii emphasized that the Centre serves as a model of how structured systems can significantly enhance service efficiency, providing a framework that other counties should consider emulating.

"The Service Centre is a prime example of how effective systems and processes can contribute to smooth revenue operations. It is an approach that has yielded positive results for us, and I believe other counties can benefit by adopting similar structures," he added.

Collaboration with National and County Leaders

Governor Bii's meeting with Governor Lomorukai and Mrs. Chebukati underscored the importance of collaboration between different levels of government to ensure the success of county operations. Governor Lomorukai, who has faced unique challenges in Turkana County, praised Uasin Gishu for its proactive approach to revenue collection and service delivery.

"It is encouraging to see the progress that Uasin Gishu has made in these areas. It’s a perfect example of what can be achieved when a county focuses on effective systems, transparency, and efficiency. This is something that we in Turkana can learn from," said Governor Lomorukai.

Mrs. Chebukati, who has been at the forefront of the Commission on Revenue Allocation's work in ensuring equitable revenue distribution among counties, also commended Uasin Gishu for its efforts. She emphasized that counties like Uasin Gishu that are maximizing their own-source revenue play a key role in ensuring that national resources are allocated efficiently and justly across the country.

"Uasin Gishu is setting a standard for other counties in terms of how they can increase their own-source revenue and improve service delivery. This kind of progress is key to the overall development of the nation," Mrs. Chebukati remarked.

Looking Ahead: Sustainable Growth and Service Delivery

Governor Bii expressed optimism about the future of Uasin Gishu County, stressing that the continued improvement of revenue collection mechanisms and the efficient delivery of services are essential for sustainable growth. He noted that the county government is committed to expanding its revenue base and ensuring that services reach all corners of the county.

"The growth of this county is not just about the revenue we generate. It’s about ensuring that the fruits of that revenue reach the people who need them the most," Governor Bii said. "We are committed to providing quality services in every part of Uasin Gishu, and we will continue working hard to achieve this."

The Governor also highlighted that Uasin Gishu's approach to revenue generation and service delivery is a clear indication of the county's focus on creating a self-sustaining, thriving local economy. He expressed confidence that the ongoing improvements in governance and resource mobilization will foster even greater development in the future.

A Call for Continued Collaboration

In his concluding remarks, Governor Bii reiterated the importance of collaboration between all levels of government in driving the country's growth. He called on other counties to adopt similar practices that focus on efficient revenue collection and streamlined service delivery to improve the livelihoods of their residents.

"Together, we can achieve much more," Governor Bii concluded. "We must all work hand in hand to ensure that our counties thrive, and the people we serve get the services they need and deserve."
