Governor Natembeya: Nabiswa-Kiminini Water Project Marks Major Step Toward Water Security in Trans Nzoia

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving essential services, as the expansion and renovation of the Nabiswa-Kiminini Water Project gains momentum in Kiminini Sub-County.

Addressing local residents and stakeholders during an inspection of the project site, Governor Natembeya lauded the progress made so far and emphasized the transformative potential of the water initiative, which is expected to benefit thousands of households in Kiminini Municipality and its environs.

“We are achieving significant progress in improving access to safe and reliable water within Kiminini Sub-County,” said the Governor. “This project is more than just infrastructure — it is a reflection of our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for every resident of Trans Nzoia.”

The Nabiswa-Kiminini Water Project involves laying new pipeline sections and upgrading aging infrastructure, targeting areas that have historically struggled with inconsistent or inadequate water supply. Once completed, the system will provide clean and stable water access to communities that have long faced water scarcity and reliance on unsafe sources.

Governor Natembeya stressed that the project aligns with the county’s broader Integrated Water and Sanitation Strategy, which focuses on sustainability, equity, and long-term impact.

“We are going beyond mere repairs — we are fulfilling every resident’s right to clean water,” he added. “Water is not a privilege; it is a right. And this administration will not rest until that right is realized for all.”

The Governor also acknowledged the role of local engineers, county water department officials, and community partners who have worked collaboratively to ensure smooth implementation of the project.

As the water project nears completion, it stands as a key pillar of the County Government’s development blueprint, aimed at delivering tangible results, reducing the burden of water collection on families, and enabling healthier, more productive lives for residents.
