Kalonzo Musyoka Condemns Attack on Gachagua, Calls for Accountability

Wiper Party Leader,  Kalonzo Musyoka, has strongly condemned the recent attack on Second Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at the Kasarani PCEA Church in Mwiki, calling it a national disgrace. In a statement issued today, Musyoka expressed his outrage over the violent incident, which he described as an attack on not only a senior government official but also on the sanctity of the church as a place of worship.

“The attack on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was a national shame,” Musyoka said. “This act of violence is an affront to our national values, and it is clear that these state-sponsored militia are agents of inequity and servants of the devil.”

Musyoka, a former vice president of Kenya, went on to ask why violence would be perpetrated in a place of worship, a space meant for peace, reflection, and unity. “Why would you commit violence in church?” Musyoka queried, directing his frustration towards the leadership of the country. He urged President William Ruto to take immediate action and put an end to the violence.

“Please, Mr. Ruto, STOP it!” Musyoka added emphatically, demanding accountability for what he sees as a troubling trend in the country’s political atmosphere.

In his remarks, Musyoka also raised concerns over the integrity of the political process under the current administration. He questioned why citizens were being paid to attend political rallies, calling this a sign of compromised leadership. “Why would you pay your citizens to attend your meetings?” Musyoka asked. “Something is very wrong, and your fundamentals are compromised.”

The Wiper Party leader warned that this practice of bribing people to attend rallies, as well as the ongoing dishonesty he claims is prevalent in the administration, will only lead to further divisions within the country. "You can't bribe people all the time nor continue lying to Kenyans," he concluded, calling for a return to transparency, integrity, and unity in the country’s politics.

Musyoka’s statement is the latest in a series of criticisms from opposition leaders regarding the administration's handling of national security and political conduct. His comments have sparked a renewed conversation around accountability, the use of state resources for political gain, and the need to safeguard Kenya's democratic processes.

As tensions rise, Kenyans are calling for a resolution that promotes peace, justice, and the upholding of their rights in both political and social spaces.
