At the 3rd World Local Production Forum (WLPF) held from April 7-9, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, Kenya BioVax Institute reaffirmed its commitment to advancing local health manufacturing and improving access to essential health technologies. Hon. Dr. Mishra Kiprop Arap Chelule, CBS, Chairman of the Kenya BioVax Institute Board of Directors, alongside Acting CEO Dr. Cecilia Wanjala, engaged in a strategic dialogue with Claudia Nannei, Senior Programme Manager at the World Health Organization (WHO), focusing on fostering collaborations to enhance local manufacturing capabilities in Africa.
The meeting highlighted the critical importance of partnerships in boosting local production of vaccines, medicines, and medical technologies to ensure equitable access across the globe. Dr. Wanjala emphasized that Kenya BioVax is committed to advancing local manufacturing as a key driver for ensuring health security and sustainability, especially in the African continent.
"Kenya BioVax Institute is dedicated to positioning itself as a leader in driving health innovation, not only for Kenya but for the entire African region. Our goal is to develop sustainable solutions for local production of vital medicines, vaccines, and health technologies, ensuring they are affordable and accessible to all," said Dr. Wanjala.
Hon. Dr. Mishra Kiprop Arap Chelule also took part in several high-level sessions during the forum, where he underscored the pivotal role of local production in addressing global health challenges. He spoke passionately about Kenya BioVax’s efforts to integrate innovation with local capacity, stressing that strategic partnerships are necessary to create an ecosystem that fosters equitable access to essential health products.
