In a significant move to enhance governance and capacity building across the East African region, the Kenya School of Government (KSG) and the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) in Zanzibar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, which took place recently, aims to advance mutual interests, including capacity development, research, and the sharing of expertise in various critical sectors.
The MoU was formally signed by KSG’s Director General, Prof. Nura Mohamed, Ph.D, EBS, and Dr. Shabaan M. Suleiman, the Principal of IPA Zanzibar. The collaboration will focus on governance, human resource management, and environmental sustainability, areas that are crucial for effective public administration in the region.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone in the continued efforts to strengthen public administration and management across the region,” said Prof. Mohamed. “It is a testament to our shared vision of advancing the capacity of public servants, fostering research, and promoting good governance.”
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Prisca Oluoch, Director of Linkages and Collaboration at KSG, and Ms. Elizabeth Ngava, Principal Administrative Officer in the Office of the Director General. Both representatives expressed enthusiasm about the potential impact the collaboration will have on the public sector.
The MoU outlines key initiatives, including joint research projects, the development of training programs for public servants, and collaboration in areas of policy formulation and governance best practices. Both institutions are committed to utilizing their combined resources and expertise to address the evolving challenges in public administration.
The partnership between KSG and IPA Zanzibar comes at a critical time when the region is facing growing demands for skilled leadership in government institutions. Both institutions are confident that their efforts will contribute significantly to the development of a more effective and efficient public sector.
This collaboration is expected to pave the way for further strengthening ties between Kenya and Zanzibar in the pursuit of sustainable development and good governance.
