The Member of Parliament for Kesses, CPA Julius Ruto, is set to launch the NYOTA Kesses Project on Tuesday, a significant initiative aimed at empowering youth in the constituency through training, certification, and startup support.
The NYOTA Kesses Project is a key component of the broader National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) program, which seeks to address the high levels of unemployment and underemployment among the youth in Kenya. The initiative will offer young people the opportunity to acquire practical skills, certifications, and the necessary resources to either secure employment or start their own businesses.
Speaking ahead of the launch, CPA Julius Ruto emphasized the importance of the project in transforming the future of Kesses’ youth. "The youth are the backbone of our nation, and their potential is limitless. Through the NYOTA Kesses Project, we aim to equip them with the tools they need to succeed in today's competitive world. Whether it’s through vocational training or support for young entrepreneurs, this initiative is designed to foster self-reliance and economic growth within our community," Ruto stated.
The program will target youth aged 18 to 29, with special consideration given to people with disabilities up to 35 years of age. Eligible participants, including those with at least a Form 4 education, will be trained in various fields, with certification provided upon completion. Additionally, the project will offer financial support for youth-led startups and provide mentoring from established entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses.
The NYOTA Kesses Project will be implemented in partnership with the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA), the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), and various other stakeholders. These partnerships are expected to bring vital resources, including apprenticeship opportunities, savings schemes, and government contract access to the youth.
The launch event will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, and all eligible youth in Kesses Constituency are encouraged to attend. During the event, detailed information on how to apply for the program and take full advantage of its offerings will be provided.
CPA Julius Ruto has called on all young people in the constituency to participate actively in the program, stating, “This is your opportunity to change the trajectory of your life. I urge every eligible youth to take full advantage of the resources and opportunities that will be available through the NYOTA Kesses Project.”
