Kesses Member of Parliament, CPA Julius Ruto, has sharply criticized former Public Service Cabinet Secretary, Justine Mturi, for what he termed as hypocrisy and a lack of respect for President William Ruto. Speaking to the media during a recent event, Ruto raised serious questions about Mturi’s actions and his conduct during his tenure as Attorney General and Cabinet Secretary.
Mturi, who was dismissed from his position as Public Service CS for alleged misconduct and failure to respect the President and the oath of office, has faced growing scrutiny for his political behavior. Ruto, who has been an unwavering ally of President Ruto, questioned why Mturi had not resigned during his tenure when he openly criticized the President and accused him of corruption.
"Mturi is not new to politics; he has been around for years. He started with President Ruto before he was fired for failing to respect the President and violating his oath of affirmation," said Kesses MP Julius Ruto. "What I don't understand is why, when Mturi was appointed Attorney General, he didn’t resign if he truly believed President Ruto was corrupt. You cannot sit in a Cabinet and publicly accuse your boss of corruption, yet continue to preside over the same government that you are criticizing."
Ruto’s comments were a direct challenge to Mturi’s credibility and political integrity, urging the former CS to respect the office of the President and refrain from engaging in politics driven by personal grievances or inconsistencies. He emphasized that leaders should always uphold their moral and ethical responsibility and should never betray the trust of the people who elected them into office.
"At some point, people need to ask themselves if they are truly fit to lead. Leaders must be consistent and honorable in their actions, especially in the way they treat the President, who is the symbol of national unity," Ruto added. "Mturi presided over a government he claimed was corrupt but never took any action to step down. His actions show a lack of principle, and this is not the kind of leadership that Kenyans need."
The Kesses MP further urged Mturi to engage in politics that would uplift the nation rather than create further division. "Politics should not be about personal vendettas. We must focus on the development of this country, work together as Kenyans, and support our leaders in achieving national progress," Ruto emphasized.
While Mturi has been vocal in his criticisms of the current administration, especially over issues of governance and corruption, Ruto’s remarks reflect a growing frustration among some political leaders who believe that Mturi's past actions were contradictory. Ruto believes that if Mturi truly wanted to serve the people, he should have acted with more honor and integrity during his time in office.
“Everyone has a role to play in the development of this country. But that role must be carried out with honesty, transparency, and respect for the leadership of this nation. Mturi's behavior should serve as a lesson to all those in leadership positions—loyalty to the people and the nation must always come first,” Ruto said.
The debate surrounding Mturi’s conduct and his sudden shift in political allegiance has sparked heated discussions across the political landscape, with some questioning whether his motivations are truly in the best interests of the country or merely self-serving.
As the conversation continues, Kesses MP Julius Ruto has called on all leaders to focus on the bigger picture — building a stronger, more united Kenya — and to avoid falling into the trap of petty politics that only serve to deepen divisions. "We must all work together, despite our differences, for the good of Kenya," Ruto concluded.
