The air was filled with joy and a sense of achievement as over 1,000 individuals graduated from various short courses during a colorful ceremony held at Kimende Primary School grounds. The transformative event, made possible through the support of Hon. Mburu Kahangara, Member of Parliament for Lari, was a celebration of skill, empowerment, and the promise of a better future all courtesy of the Lari NG-CDF program.
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest was Kiambu Woman Representative, Hon. Ann Wamuratha, who delivered a powerful message on the importance of skills development and economic empowerment.
“I emphasized the need not just to train our youth, but to ensure they are properly equipped to start their businesses,” Hon. Wamuratha remarked. “Training without tools is like planting without water. We must do more.”
True to her word, she went beyond motivation by providing tangible support to the graduates. Those who completed courses in cosmetology received UV machines for nail gel application, hair dryers, and blow dryers. Catering graduates were gifted chafing dishes, while those in barbering walked away with professional shaving machines — giving each group a solid start in their entrepreneurial journey.
In addition, Hon. Wamuratha highlighted her office's "Shilling for a Shilling" program a strategic initiative aimed at further training and equipping select individuals from each ward across Kiambu County. The goal is to foster self-reliance and economic growth at the grassroots level.
“Congratulations to all the graduates,” she said. “Keep up the good work. Remember, tomorrow holds even greater opportunities than today!”
The event marked a powerful testament to what can be achieved when leaders invest in people not just through education, but through real-world tools and opportunities.
