Natembeya Fires Back at Tribal Allegations: “I Speak the Truth, No Matter the Consequences

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has once again taken a bold stand against what he describes as rising ethnic bias and politically motivated attacks from allies of President William Ruto, including Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei.

In a strongly worded statement, Natembeya defended his leadership record, particularly on inclusivity and fair representation within his administration. He challenged those accusing him of tribal favoritism to look inward before casting stones.

“My drivers are Kalenjins, the head of my security team is a Sabaot, and my team includes members of the Nandi, Sabaot, and every other community in Trans Nzoia,” Natembeya said. “Cherargei, can you tell me how many Bukusu individuals you have employed?”

The governor accused certain leaders from the Rift Valley of stoking ethnic divisions and using tribal identity as a political weapon. He singled out former Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, citing his controversial removal of a Luhya vice chancellor from Moi University — a move Natembeya described as “driven by tribal bias.”

“We must confront the uncomfortable truth: some leaders use ethnicity to protect their turf and silence others. We cannot build a united country on the foundation of tribal favoritism.”

“The Truth Must Be Told”

Governor Natembeya, known for his candid political style, reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out against what he sees as injustice, even when it draws political backlash.

“I will continue to speak my mind, regardless of the consequences, because the truth must be told,” he said. “Kenya belongs to all of us — not just to those in power or those from a specific community.”
