In a sweeping anti-narcotics operation, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have arrested three major suspects in separate sting operations across the country, recovering significant quantities of heroin and cannabis in the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking.
In Mombasa, ANU officers based in Msambweni made a breakthrough arrest of Shee Hussein, a well-known figure in the region’s drug trade. Acting on actionable intelligence, officers intercepted Hussein aboard a public service vehicle in the Magaoni area.
A swift search uncovered 200 grams of heroin concealed in his left trouser pocket. Faced with mounting pressure, the suspect led detectives to his residence, where a follow-up search yielded 19 additional packages of Cannabis sativa.
Hussein is currently being held at Kilindini Port Police Station as he awaits formal charges and arraignment.
Meanwhile, in Murang’a County, ANU detectives attached to DCI Headquarters conducted a meticulously planned raid in Kabati. Using targeted intelligence, the team intercepted Henry Mburu Njogu, who was driving a Toyota Rumion (registration number KCP 885G).
A search of his residence uncovered a staggering 21 sacks of Cannabis sativa, adding to the growing concerns over the scale of drug distribution networks in the region. Mburu was taken into custody and is being held at Muthaiga Police Station pending court proceedings.
In yet another operation in Usenge, a joint multi-agency team arrested Francis Odhiambo Ochieng, alias Odhis, a suspected kingpin in the local narcotics market. Authorities recovered a shocking 4,600 sticks of bhang during the operation.
Odhis was apprehended without incident and is currently in custody as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) finalizes preparations for his court appearance.
Police have hailed the latest successes as a major step in dismantling the country’s illicit drug networks.
“These operations demonstrate the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration in the war against narcotics,” a senior officer at DCI headquarters said.
The National Police Service continues to urge the public to report suspicious activities and work hand-in-hand with law enforcement in the fight against drugs, which have ravaged many communities, particularly among the youth.
Investigations into the suspects’ wider criminal networks are ongoing, with more arrests expected in the coming days.
