ODM Stalwart George Nyangira Oduor Honoured in Nairobi Farewell Mass

Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Friday led tributes at a farewell mass held at House of Grace Church, Nairobi, in honour of the late George Nyangira Oduor, a long-serving aide to the Odinga family and a dedicated member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Odinga eulogized Oduor as a quiet but formidable force who served the party, the family, and the nation with rare dedication and humility.

“George was more than just a colleague—he was family,” said Odinga. “He embodied loyalty, sacrifice, and service. He was the kind of man who never sought the limelight but made sure everything worked behind the scenes.”

The service drew ODM officials, family, friends, and political leaders from across the divide, all united in mourning the loss of a man remembered for his tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to the party’s vision.

“He stood by us in moments of triumph and trial. His wisdom, calm demeanor, and unshakeable faith in our cause were a source of strength,” Odinga added. “Kenya has lost a patriot whose contribution may not have always made headlines, but whose legacy runs deep.”

George Oduor’s body will be transported to his ancestral home in Ndori, Asembo, Siaya County, where he will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 12.

“As we lay him to rest, let us carry forward the values he lived by—integrity, hard work, and love for this nation,” said Odinga.

Oduor’s passing marks the end of an era for many within ODM and the Odinga household, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering loyalty and selfless service.
