President Ruto Pledges KSh 800 Million to Complete J.M. Kariuki Memorial County Referral Hospital in Nyandarua

President William Ruto today announced that the national government will allocate KSh 800 million to support the County Government of Nyandarua in completing the stalled J.M. Kariuki Memorial County Referral Hospital. This funding is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access for the people of Nyandarua and ensure they receive quality, affordable medical services.

The President made the announcement after assessing the ongoing construction of the 142-bed capacity hospital, which is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the region. Once completed, the J.M. Kariuki Memorial County Referral Hospital will provide a wide range of services, including in-patient and outpatient care, imaging, laboratory services, emergency care, and maternal and child healthcare services.

“This hospital will serve as a critical healthcare facility for the people of Nyandarua, ensuring that they no longer have to travel long distances to access quality medical care. It is part of our commitment to making healthcare services more accessible and affordable to all Kenyans, especially in rural areas,” said President Ruto during his visit to the site.

The completion of the J.M. Kariuki Memorial County Referral Hospital is expected to greatly reduce the strain on existing healthcare facilities in the region and improve the overall healthcare infrastructure in Nyandarua County. The project is a key part of the government’s broader plan to enhance health services across the country, particularly in underserved areas.

In addition to his visit to the hospital, President Ruto also flagged off the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project at the Jua Kali Stage in Ol Kalou Town. This project aims to provide reliable electricity to more households, businesses, and institutions, further boosting the development of Nyandarua.

“Access to electricity is essential for development. The Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project will ensure that more homes and businesses in Nyandarua have access to power, which is a key enabler for economic growth and improved living standards,” President Ruto added.

The President also took the opportunity to inspect the ongoing construction of the Ol Kalou Affordable Housing project, which is aimed at providing affordable and decent housing to the people of Nyandarua. This project aligns with the government’s commitment to addressing the housing deficit and ensuring that more Kenyans have access to affordable, quality housing.

“These projects are part of the government’s broader development agenda, which focuses on improving infrastructure, healthcare, and housing. By investing in these critical sectors, we are laying the foundation for a more prosperous and equitable future for all Kenyans,” President Ruto concluded.

The people of Nyandarua and surrounding areas are set to benefit from these initiatives, which will improve access to essential services and contribute to the overall development of the region.
