President Ruto’s Visit to Laikipia County: A Step Towards a More Inclusive and Prosperous Future

President William Ruto has reiterated the commitment of the Broad-based Government to ensuring that no community, county, or region is left behind in Kenya's journey towards growth and inclusivity. Speaking to residents and traders during his visit to Nanyuki Town, the President emphasized the government’s goal of building a stronger, more prosperous, and unified nation.

During his visit, President Ruto laid the foundation stone for the construction of 10 new classrooms at Nanyuki D.E.B. Primary and Junior Secondary School. The initiative is part of the government's effort to enhance the quality of education and improve infrastructure across the country, ensuring that students have access to a conducive learning environment.

The President also took time to inspect the Sh350 million Nanyuki Modern Market, a transformative project aimed at providing traders with a state-of-the-art facility that will boost commerce in the region. The new market is expected to significantly enhance local economic activities, offering traders better spaces for their businesses and creating a conducive environment for the growth of small and medium enterprises.

As part of his tour, President Ruto also visited the Nanyuki Affordable Housing Project, an ambitious initiative that launched in January 2024. The 200-unit project, which is now 97% complete, has already created over 1,000 jobs for the youth in the area. The housing project is seen as a crucial part of the government's efforts to address the country's housing deficit and provide affordable homes for Kenyans, particularly the youth and first-time homeowners.

“The completion of the Nanyuki Affordable Housing Project and the creation of jobs for over 1,000 young people is a clear testament to our commitment to job creation, especially for the youth. Our country is transforming, and every region, including Laikipia County, is benefitting from these national efforts,” President Ruto remarked during his address to the crowd.

The President’s visit to Laikipia County marks a significant milestone in the government's ongoing efforts to foster inclusive development across the country. With initiatives like the Nanyuki Affordable Housing Project, the government is creating opportunities for all Kenyans, driving economic growth, and promoting social equity.

As President Ruto concluded his visit, he assured the people of Laikipia and the wider country that the government’s development agenda would continue to prioritize inclusivity, sustainability, and prosperity for all citizens, irrespective of their region or background.
